There seems to be some confusion over who may use the various paths in Clyne Valley. The Council’s Countryside Access Team stress that equestrians and cyclists have the right to use the Bridleways and the shared old Railway track (part of the National Cycle Network Route 4) but need permission to use any other paths in the Valley (excluding the purpose built mountain bike trail on the west side).
We would like to remind all users that Bridleways are open to walkers, horse-riders and cyclists, Public footpaths and Permissive Paths can be used by walkers only (including wheelchair users, although not all routes are accessible). The difficulty is trying to enforce these conditions, but where there is conflict, all we can do is ask those not complying with these rules to return to a more suitable route. We would ask all users to remain calm over this ruling and not over-react !
