Seeds and Snakes

On a beautiful sunny day earlier this week, volunteers from CVCP, Swansea A.O.N.B. Team, Amphibian and Reptile Conservation and Swansea Amphibian and Reptile Group joined forces to rake, scarify and scatter yellow rattle seeds on an area of the meadow in Ynys Newydd.

All the raked material was used by the group to create some laying sites for grass snakes in this area. These amazing creatures are the largest, and only egg-laying, snake species in the UK.
