Volunteering – Habitat management in Kate’s Orchard (3)
Wednesdays 5th, 19th October, and 2nd, 16th, 30th November.
10 a.m. to 12 noon (weather permitting)
We are removing some of the birch saplings in order to protect the heathland habitat of the orchard, which supports a diversity of flora and fauna. We will also apply mulch to the fruit trees.
Meet at the lower entrance to Kate’s Orchard, which is just a few metres north of the fishing lake, on the right hand side.
Sturdy shoes are essential. Please wear gloves, long trousers and sleeves for protection. Eye protection can be provided. Secateurs may be useful if you have them. Bring water or other refreshment.
